Charcoal leaves ash. By removing it with the ash tool and collecting it with the Ash removal pan, the air flows more easily through your Big Green Egg. And that oxygen and airflow are necessary to quickly get and keep your EGG at the right temperature. The ash scoop fits perfectly into the opening of the air regulator to prevent ash spillage.
